The Art of Solar CookingJul 20 2008 - 10:00am Jul 20 2008 - 3:00pm Etc/GMT-7
Solar cookers are used as a humanitarian tool in many parts of the world, such as Kenya and India, to help alleviate the high costs and terrible health risks associated with wood-burning stoves. Did you know that you, too, can benefit from the efficiency and high quality cooking provided by solar cookers? This workshop will teach participants about the use, design, and practical applications of solar cookers and solar water pasteurization, as we make two different designs from recycled materials. Additionally, we will explore the connections between function and aesthetics of solar cookers in the garden, and as components of green building and improved sustainability. Cost: $15 sliding scale, plus optional $5 materials fee. Info: 510-548-2220 x233. |
