UAS News: February 2007

The first UAS Green Movie Night at the Little Roxie Theater was a huge success! We actually had to add a few chairs to accommodate people in the aisle!! Since we had to turn some people away, the folks from New College have offered offered to let us move to the Big Roxie, most likely starting in March. Stay tuned for details!

In other exciting news, Back in November we organized a brainstorm on Food Security. Literacy for Environmental Justice along with Guerrilla Organics participated in the discussion that led to a clear vision for a possible community organizing -- bulk buying direct from a local farm or farms to bring down the cost and support local agriculture. We're excited to share that Glide is now interested in collaborating. If there are any allies out there who have contacts with people or organizations who would be interested in collaborating, please contact the events team.

Finally, the Events team is planning an edible gardening playshop in May. The concept is to transform a 4'x4' piece of land into a usable garden. If there are any open lots in the community that are ready for a transformation, please let us know!
