Role Description

 

General Help/Organizational Skills/Administration

 

UAS needs to submit IRS Form 1023. We are seeking an individual to draft a copy that we can have counsel review. Additionally, we will likely need to revise our Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation. We are also looking for help in developing a “financial control” policy, among other documents.

 

Mapping/Calling organizations

(MEM Team)

This task involves understanding the MEM project (www.uas.coop/mem), understanding UAS’ mission, and then representing UAS in relationship building with any of the hundreds of organizations in the UAS database. Relationship building involves emailing and calling organizations and asking them “survey” questions and recording responses in the appropriate fields in the UAS database. Strong interpersonal skills required.

 

Analyzing data for Mapping Project

(MEM Team)

This task involves performing searches and reading through data collected by the MEM project, relationship building and identifying potential relationships, overlapping efforts and unrecognized potential for collaboration. The outcomes from this task will be lists of organizations identified as a good fit for collaborative events and reports that will be posted on the UAS website and submitted to organizations and potential funders. Strong writing skills and whole-systems thinking skills are required.

 

Mapping Project Assistance

(MEM Team)

Various roles includes assisting and organizing with the MEM coordinator, editing data, helping to plan events, event design and fliers, Bay Area venue and hospitality research (for events, meetings, etc.), calling and emailing to personally invite organizations to our launch event, and assisting during events

 

Connecting activists to organizations

 

This task requires searching and reading through the UAS database to identify organizations that need support and then interviewing individuals at UAS events and offering them points of connection to appropriate organizations.

 

Fundraising

This task involves forming relationships with potential grant making organizations and sharing the UAS story in hopes of receiving an invitation to submit a LOI or proposal. This task also involves proposal writing and editing.

Event Co-host: Community Connect

Assist in preparations (including food shopping, set up, hosting, door, cleanup, etc.) for monthly evening social gathering

 

Ticket Booth Sales, Green Movie Night & Forum

Selling tickets to the public at the Victoria theater once a month on a Monday evening for 1.5-2 hours. You will get free entrance to this fun and inspiring film and community forum event, a great chance to learn about and share solutions with other interested locals!

 

Tech Help

These tasks involve augmenting the UAS website by adding features, fixing bugs, etc.

 

Membership Sales

This task involves sharing the features and benefits of the UAS membership program and taking information from interested individuals at events, door to door, through email, etc.

 

Sustainability Consultation

This task involves visiting individuals’ homes and sharing with them the best practices for each of the sustainability categories UAS has collected from the community and collecting practices already adopted by individuals.

 

 

E-Newsletter Assistance

 

Tasks include writing for the newsletter and/or assist in finding community leaders/organizations to write for the newsletter (can be articles or interviews reflecting the monthly theme) and editing the newsletter.

Outreach

This involves representing UAS at various events to spread the word and increase number of members (tabling at outside functions, public places, online sites, creating connection hubs).

 

Event Promotion

 

 

EcoHoliday Fair Committee

(Connecting Local Green Businesses with Eco-Shoppers in a Fun Environment - Sunday Dec. 14th)

 

 

Promoting UAS events in strategic locations (online sites, various physical locations, etc.).

 

Various roles include Event Coordinator Assistant, Vendor Services Assistant, Marketing Coordinator, Web Designer, Stage MC, Shuttle Coordinator, Bicycle Parking Coordinator, Masseur Coordinator, Decorating Committee, among others. Opportunities available for the planning stages and day-of-event.
